Backup Xbox Game Progress Saves To a USB Device I was surprised to find how easy it is to connect a laptop drive to an Xbox. No mods nutthin' just plug and play. Get the necessary parts and an old laptop drive and away we go! You can use other USB devices like a Digital Camera with sufficient memory, or a memory stick as well. Really with an Xbox Controller Port to PC USB adapter and any USB device you should be able to use it as a memory card. (Partial compatibility/non-compatibility list) If you have a USB device that you plug into your computer (through a USB A connector) and it is suddenly automatically recognized by windows as a usable drive its worth giving it a try in your Xbox (certainly compatibility issues with some devices should be expected) USB Hard Drive Case and Adapter Kit available here USB 2.0 Laptop Hard Drive Case Xbox Controller Port to PC USB adapter Plug one or both of the Laptop Dirve's cables into your Xbox. The extra USB plug on the Laptop drives cord are for additional power for the drive. To get this to work on one of my computers I need to plug in both USB plugs, on another computer only one, on my Xbox only one (your mileage may vary). From the opening screen select memory Plug in your USB memory device... wait for it.... wait for it... Boom! (It is actually preparing the drive so bigger drives might take longer. My old 2GB laptop drive took less than 20 seconds ) Click A for OK Now on to transferring some game saves to the USB device. If you just arrow up and down and hit A to select the game from the hard drive it presents only the delete screen Instead use the D pad to maneuver up and down and then go over one to the right to select the individual game save then hit A and the copy screen is displayed. Copy it where? Lets put it on the fresh new 50,000+ available blocks memory unit.... For a split second you see the copying screen. Repeat as many times as necessary to retrieve all your game saves.
