ATA 100 Mod

This is probably one of the easies mods available.  (Ever heard of Origami?)
See also Benchmark info  ATA100 Install/Concept  ATA100 4 Connector

Start with a normal xbox console and void your warranty by cracking it open

When re-assembling it replace the standard ATA33 cable with a non-sliced ATA 100 cable.

Start with the end with the black connector, this is the end that will be attached to the motherboard, feed the entire cable through the black loop.

Once this is complete the IDE cable extends from the same side as the keyed side of the black connector rather than the opposite side as before.  Once the cable is folded over the top of the black connector and going in the same direction as the keyed site, make a 90 degree fold about one inch from the black connector, this will send the cable in the direction of the DVD drive.  Now the keyed side of the gray connector must be facing up so again fold the cable around the connector as on the black one, this leaves the remainder of the cable heading downward rather than toward the Hard drive.

Make two more 90 degree folds right below the gray connector, this will send the cable up past the DVD drive, you can then make two more that will end up being on top of the DVD drive, this sends the blue connector to the hard drive.

When your done it should look something like this

Another Style of Cable...

Start with the blue end in the motherboard, fold it 90 degrees so the cord goes by the DVD, the key will be facing in the right direction on the proper side if the initial fold is made on the proper side of the cable

Make some accordion style folds to take up the extra length, the cable then extends right past the DVD drive

Lay the cable on top of the DVD and make a 90 to send it toward the hard drive.  Notice the tab that initially held the IDE cable in place is not used then cable lays over the top of it.  Make another 90 degree fold to put the connector in line with the hard drive connection.

That's it, reassemble the case... done
